Graduation/Wedding/Farewell Weekend, More Tragedy, Great news about some students
ISI Dallas/Fort Worth, ISI Other, ISI TCU, ISI UTA, LisaNewsIt’s the end of the school year. Graduation was last weekend. It’s always sad to see friends that we built over months even years go home but that is the purpose of our ministry. To share Jesus love with students and to equip them for effective service back home in their countries. In many ways the end of the year has been harvest time in the things of God. I’ve heard of a couple of students who made decisions to follow Jesus and who want to be baptized before they go home. We ARE sad to see some incredible friends leave like our EMBA friends including Gary pictured here. We will miss Abe from Shanghai and the Tanin’s from Tajikistan who have become true family for us. We will miss the EMBA wives that were meeting with a friend and key volunteer and the excitement they have about studying God’s Word.
One exciting thing this year has been the many new “workers for the harvest” that God has provided. One student, Gary, who had been to many of our events and has been close to many of our volunteers and team recently told Kathleen that of all religions he likes Christianity the most because the followers live what they say they believe. Wow. That tells you the kind of team we have!
Praise
- What a weekend! Lisa enjoyed the time with her family in Oregon as a part of our nephew Caleb’s wedding. She was safe and blessed by each of her family members.
- We were able to be a part of two dinners with the Ch EMBA students. At the first, they were honored by the Business school. At the second they honored their host families and American friends who made their time very special. Honestly, that meeting felt like almost a worship service as they recounted God’s faithfulness (a God they don’t completely know yet), their forays into Bible Study, the friendship with believers that they loved. It was touching.
- Roy and the kids were able to be a part of two UTA graduations and a yard sale for Tim’s scout troop while Lisa was gone. It was a precious time together and a great time to honor friends.
- Many of you have been praying for a house by UTD that God placed in the laps of new staff interns Scott and Marie Woods that students are helping to refurbish for use in ministry there. We had our staff meeting there last Monday and the inside was completed last weekend for the Woods to move in next weekend. God provided enough to do all the renovations needed to make it presentable for ministry and livable for the Woods. We are in the process of building a deck so they can show hospitality to so many more students for larger group events. (Pray, we still need around $1400 to finish this)
- Both the M:28 rapid discipleship project and C9 Technology projects for home office are going well. Continue to pray for God’s grace in these very, very important projects.
Pray for
- Continue to pray as our team continues to develop the M:28 strategy core materials. Pray for unity, humility, patience and grace as we do this tedious but important work. There continue to be spiritual attacks almost every day. Pray that God uses this to build a movement of harvest and discipleship around the world through our students around the country. Pray also that prayer movements will spark around the US among our staff.
- Pray for a regional TRUE retreat in Rapid Cities, SD next week that God will open up eyes so they will see Jesus
- Continue to pray for Frank Ho our long time ministry partner as he recovers from a stroke in Alhambra, CA.
- Pray as we look for a new car that has very high gas mileage, is not too expensive, and will last a long time to replace Lisa’s car.
