Sharing Christ's Love with International Students in North Texas

HUGE answered prayer, Blessed two weeks – Big howdy Results

ISI Dallas/Fort Worth, ISI UTA, J News, Ministry, RoyNews

What a welcome month at UTA! God used us(we but more the 200+ volunteers) to made over 100 airport pickups. He brought us over 400 students to the Big Howdy Party(plus nearly 200 volunteers from 30+ groups). He served many through us at the Used Item Sale. He used us to take over 100 students to Walmart. At TCU, we were blessed with over 50 students at the welcome party, many of them new and some interested in Bible Study. At UTD there are well over 1000 new international students! But at the same time, God raised up more ISI home groups than every. In all of this, the most important thing is , many relationships were formed and people of peace identified. Praise the Lord for all he has done!

One other HUGE item of praise is that God allowed us to get permission from a publisher to use some key elements of the M:28 paradigm! You all have been praying for a long time for this and God answered in a very powerful way!

Here are some quick hits:

  • Roy took 46 students and volunteers (mostly students) to a pre-season Dallas Cowboy’s game. For many of the students this was their first exposure to American Football and certainly a stadium like Cowboy’s stadium. Some good relationship building happened. Also, key volunteer/students Joanna & Anish took a crew of students out to Six Flags for UTA night. Same result. Praise the Lord for these opportunities.
  • We had our first Friday night (see www.utaisi.org to see dates and locations for future events) at our friends the Lim’s house. It was packed. Praise the Lord for some good connection with new students. Pray for continued relationships.
  • Roy, new intern Caitlyn & Ron spoke at Southfield Christian Fellowship. It was a real blessing and really a celebration as just the day before 50 or so of the 100 gathered there were involved with the Big Howdy Party.
  • Roy spoke to 5 Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & Dallas Theological Seminary classes to share opportunities to meet and serve international students. 47 students indicated interest. Their exposure have long term implications when they become pastors and missionaries in the future to serve students.
  • Roy was able to go with Jonathan and his friend Jacob to the Animefest convention and it was very fun and interesting. Good time together.
  • We were visited by former Japanese student Shusuke who came with his “new” bride to introduce her to his UTA friends.
  • Several of our staff had anniversaries of 27 & 40+ years. Roy’s parents celebrated their 50th anniversary this last week. (They insisted we not to do a party and left for an Alaskan adventure so we couldn’t even surprise them…:-))
