Stephenville Campout Results – Hold me in your Arms Friday Night and Frog Family Weekend

One of the special things I really enjoy about doing ISI ministry is that is it incredibly fun. Every once in a while, when I get so bogged down in the daily struggles and other things, God reminds me of that. This week was one of those times. It was a great week on so many levels. Stephenville was a total blast! Here is a report from my colleague Ron Bunyard:

“I want to thank you for praying for our camp-out last weekend.  We really experienced God’s goodness in all respects.  Even though God chose to send a much needed 5 hour overnight rain to this area of Texas, the students all had a great time.  They had such great attitudes even though many of them got soaked in their tents when the rains came.  One student commented, “we will always remember this camp-out as a great experience and memory, even though it rained.”  I was so encouraged by their attitudes.God did answer your prayer with great conversations being had and many of the students asking great questions about God and our relationship with him.” – Ron

My sentiments exactly… Check out the pictures in this Flickr album (http://www.flickr.com/photos/yabukibreeze/sets/72157631554124400/)

But then there was this Friday, one that was as crowded as is becoming the norm… but we had a special gift of fun and fellowship and community…

Check out these 3 videos on this flickr page from our Fall Friday Night groups. We had a contest of the guys and the gals singing a Asian Classic pop song made famous by Michael Learns To Rock, “Take me to your heart” (a popular song in Asia – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0Y-FoMB_eg)… The group (young old, from all the different countries) really seemed to break out into community. See for yourself…

You judge if the guys or the girls were the best… and if God brought community…

Today, I was able to be a part of TCU ICF’s (student chapter of ISI) Family Weekend Tailgate party. The TCU Horned Frogs won their game 27-7 over Virginia in the morning. An even greater blessing was the seemingly serendipitous meeting God gave me with an old friend who was an S Ar&bian student at UTA and a friend of mine. He was invited by his teacher to join our gathering. We were both surprised at seeing each other there. More of a blessing, we have the most profound conversation about God’s word and faith and all kinds of stuff I’ve had in a while. Other quick hits…

  • Jonathan’s design was chosen for the Academic Decathalon team’s T-Shirt AND he is passing all of his classes (and doing well in most). Tim is cranking (though crankily) through Jr. High. It’s harder than elementary school. He is on the robotics team and was chosen to be second chair in the school orchestra Cello section. He also enjoy’s the church Sunday discipleship for youth. Charis is cooking up a storm at home. One of these days very very soon she will be cooking whole meals for us. Lisa is thriving in her work situation. Last week she was a part of their retreat with students taking them to see the Promise in Glen Rose. Thanks for praying for this weekend. We survived! We also went to a bunch of college fairs and financial aid seminars this week. Jon less than 2 years from college!
  • Roy was able to teach a class at Dallas Theological Seminary on ministering to Asian Americans in a multicultural church setting. He got much help from several friends who are Asian American pastors, cross-cultural experts, lay leaders, etc. who helped him to present the “most important stuff.” It was great connecting with these friends too, especially Daniel Young who helped me teach. Thanks all. It seems like the students were responsive.
