So many good things happened the last two weeks. It’s been almost overwhelming to write about it all. Between ISI’s 60th Anniversary National Family Conference and the event of the July 4th weekend, it’s going to be hard to keep this short. Still please bear with us and please pray. God is good and he showed it that last couple of weeks.
Praises:
- Roy teamed up with North Texas ISI team members Ron, Derrah and Jeff to train 16 national ISI staff in second level M:28 training. We covered implementation, coaching, etc. You should have heard the stories about what God is already doing in the ministries of each of these people who have already been doing M:28 and are ready to go to the next level.
- At the National Staff Conference, ISI celebrated 60 years of ministry. God was there. Many of said this was the best one yet in terms of scratching where we itched. We were challenged by each of the speakers. We also learned a lot about the early years of ISI. What trailblazers! Roy had the chance to serve throughout the week too helping people with M:28 implementation and in organizing technology help desks.
- At the conference ISI released an iOS and Android App it is called “iStudents.” It is designed to help international students to know how to be ready to study in the United States. It also points students to the ISI people who can help them on their local university. Please download it from the Apple App Store (for the iphone/ipad) or the Google Play store (for Android devices) and give it 5 stars (if you like it) to encourage more students to use it.
- Another highlight at the conference was that our son Jonathan gave a testimony about how God gave him a greater sense of his place in the kingdom. Now afterward he shrugged off what he said as he felt like he was pushed to share and “the kingdom” is stuff that would touch people there but I have to feel that God was speaking in him there in some way.
- During July 4, we had two different events (see pictures), 1)a trip to Light it up Arlington and 2) a ISI UTA July 4 Party. Many of our students either went to one or the other of the events. At the July 4 event, Roy had the privilege of baptizing Tina. Tina, if you remember was the student Roy taught basic driving too. Her testimony prompted many spiritual conversations both at the party and also during the drives home. Her new friends from Richland College were also there for this special event.
