Sharing Christ's Love with International Students in North Texas

Super Hero Micah, Colorado Springs & Fire

ISI Other, ISI UTA, KidsNews, Praise, Prayer

Jon and student friends helping at Superhero Micah SpectacularSummer is a little different than other times of the year for us. Many students remain during the summer but summer school schedules are very different than during other semesters and students have more time. There is also more to do even though it is very crazy. It is the best time to in the M:28 cycle build connection with community with the students. Often they have more time for M:28 Bible Studies. We need your prayers as we move through the summer. The students had the honor of serving someone this year and God used that. Please continue to pray during this time especially as we do many things with students and relationships could either sour or be blessed especially.

Praises:

  • We had a delightful time during the volunteer opportunity for the students around 12 of them plus 2-9 of our team members including our whole family went to the fundraising carnival (https://www.facebook.com/SuperheroMicahsSpectacular?fref=ts) to help former UTA ISI team members, Maurice & Linda’s little 4 year old son Micah as he is fighting cancer. It was really fun watching the students man game booths and bounce houses, do face painting and driving cars around (a local dealer was giving $50 for each test drive of one of their Infinity vehicles). The students worked really hard and it was a blessing watching them give of themselves, some doing this sort of thing for the first time. (see pictures of this and other June events http://www.flickr.com/photos/yabukibreeze/sets/72157634197003853/) A real sense of community was built among the students and others who were there as we together worked for an important cause. Please keep on praying for Micah as he had to go back to the hospital right before this.
  • Thanks all for prayer for Jonathan. He started his first job this week.

This week a couple of very strategic things are happening that require your prayer:

  • Pray for one ISI’s former national leader who lost his home in wildfires in Colorado Springs. Pray that God will reveal Himself in all this. .
  • On Thursday we leave for Colorado Springs for ISI’s national staff conference. Roy will be training people in intermediate M:28 before the conference and then he has other responsibilities up there including leading a workshop in implementing M:28, a technology help desk, etc. This year it is a family conference so Lisa and all the kids will be going too. Pray for Roy and everyone there to be led by the Spirit training time, seminars, tech help desks, etc. Pray for safety as the family drives up and back. Pray for God’s grace for the family, that it will be a special time for all, especially the kids.
  • Pray for Roy to have the courage to start raising support again to make up for a shortfall based on their family’s needs after they get back from Colorado.
