Happy Thanksgiving 2013
FamilyNews, Greeting“On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence.” – William Jennings Bryan
The older I get, the more I learn how little control we have over our lives. God provides all things and knows the best way for us to live. I don’t just mean following the rules in the Bible. I mean that He intimately wants to be a part of our lives to daily guide us in a way that best develops and utilizes our strengths and weaknesses, who He made us and what He made us for as His children.
The implication is that we can, like never before, live with confidence and purpose. What a paradox! By living in dependence on the God who made us and who orchestrates the world, we can live with utter freedom and poise. We can also show generosity and love for others like never before too. So what more can we do but live a life of gratitude and thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
From the Yabuki’s
To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything He has given us — and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him.” – Thomas Merton (Thoughts on Solitude)
