New family members, I want to read the Ingil!, Your prayers.
ISI Dallas/Fort Worth, ISI OtherThis last week the ISI North Texas team hosted national EQUIP training. Staff from all over the country converged on Dallas to learn about some of the latest doings in international student ministry (ISM). Almost the whole New York ISI team was there as were several other new and recently joined staff. We all learned so much from each other. Several of the staff indicated that their time here was life changing. Wow! what a blessing and honor. I know your prayers made a difference.
As part of the EQUIP training, we all went to a Muslim Background Believers conference put on by Gospel for Muslims. At this conference, we heard some wonderful stories of God changing the lives of many Muslims, leading them to follow Him… It was interesting, almost to a person, each of them had a dream about Jesus at some point in their journey to Him. I’ve got a cool story about some Muslim students and their response to Jesus and God’s Word that I will share in our next newsletter. Please be looking for it.
- The EMBA student wives Discovery Bible Study led by our key volunteer Kathleen continues to be a source of joy for us. God is working greatly. Just recently, as the gal’s were discovering Jesus through God’s word, Kathleen challenged a couple of them to consider becoming a follower of Jesus. Several seemed interested. She led them through the prayer that indicates this sort of faith. It wasn’t completely clear if they truly prayed so she is following them up one by one and already the first that she shared with said “yes!”
- A Saudi student, lets call him Ali, and his friend came last friday and right away joined the Bible Discovery Group. He was so excited about the discussion, he started asking all kinds of questions about Isa (Jesus) and the Ingil (the New Testament). He was surprised that the Bible was originally written in Greek and he suggested that someone translate the Bible into Arabic. I said I had one and his eye opened very wide with excitement. I told him, when he came next week, I would give it to him. Well this week, he brought along 2 more friends (and the one other one who already came) and 2 more Saudi’s came, a boy and a girl. I had some great times talking about God and Jesus with them while grilling burgers, and honestly from the moment he got into my car, even with his friends around, Ali, kept asking about the Bible he was going to get. He was so excited when he finally received it. The Saudi girl saw that we had an Arabic Bible and so that enboldened her to join the Bible Discovery Group. God really touched her heart with the story of Jesus calming the storm. She took home an Arabic Ingil. There was no fear of their friends in any of these. They really seemed like true seekers of God. I was so shocked by what God is doing! Praise the Lord for his goodness.
