Space Weekend and the Mavericks
ISI Dallas/Fort Worth, ISI UTA, LisaNews, RoyNewsMore relationship building the last two week. Space Weekend was a complete hit. (See pictures) So was a separate trip to see a to see a Dallas Mavericks basketball game via train (40 people – see pictures). It has been fun to watch as we worked to develop community through the different events. Many of the same people came to the Cowboy’s game, Camping trip, Space Weekend and the Dallas Mavericks games. True communities are beginning to form just around groups those people. Some of us are also getting plugged in within those groups. Some of these students are also starting to trickle Friday nights. Still, even out side of Friday night, sharing Jesus love is happening in these communities by our team. Still, I’ve heard of at least 2 M:28 Groups are on the verge of starting with this group with no doubt more to come. Wow!
Some quick hits…
- Friday nights continue to be an adventure. We have been stretched in the size of the groups and how tight the groups have become. Praise the Lord.
- On Monday we took a group of 40 people to watch a Dallas Mavericks Exhibition game. We all loaded up at UT Arlington and went to the nearby train station to go the American Airlines Center. We got some great seats. The students had a blast and experienced something very special in their eyes. By the train ride home, there was a real sense of connection and friendship as we all experienced this thing together.
- Space weekend was a total success. It was a mad scramble to get enough homes and cars but God provided and it went very well. The students stayed in their car groups both in their cars, at NASA, at the host homes, going to church, in walking around in Kemah and driving home. It was such an intense time of building friendship. Most of the students said they had an incredible time. Also many “good” conversations happened and many “deep” questions were asked and pondered together.
- Lisa and Roy are enjoying a marriage class that they signed up for at Fielder Church. We are really learning each other and growing much closer every day.
